LED lighting is an increasing solution in commercial and residential applications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/sites\/prod\/files\/2020\/09\/f78\/ssl-led-adoption-aug2020.pdf\">U.S. Department of Energy reports that LED lighting adoption saved 1.3 quadrillion<\/a><\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">BTUs of energy consumption in the US in 2018 \u2013 equivalent to almost $15 billion dollars (USD) of cost savings. However, this represents a small fraction of total lighting applications, and they expect it will increase the use of LED technologies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One benefit of LEDs is their extended field service life relative to older lighting technologies. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electronics-notes.com\/articles\/electronic_components\/diode\/light-emitting-diode-led-lifetime-lifespan-expectancy-mtbf.php\">Approximately up to 50,000 hours (around 17 years!) of lighting<\/a> can be generated from an LED-based lighting device, several times the legacy technologies&#8217; lifespan. Because the semiconductor component is so stable, a robust assembly process is critical in final LED device performance.
