This sponsored cycle aimed to raise public awareness and funds for both associations.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Sponsored cycle<\/h2>\n<p>A total of 20 cyclists the route from England&#8217;s Luton on Saturday morning to Harwich in one day, crossing the ferry, and then cycling to Utrecht in The Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>Others completed only one leg of the journey.\u00a0Together, we raised over \u20ac 30,000. The money will be split between the two associations:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rettuk.org\/rettuk-public\/rettuk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RETT UK<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rett.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nederlandse Rett Syndroom Vereniging<\/a>. Rett syndrome is a rare neurological disorder affecting mainly females and very few males.\u00a0 Although present at birth, it is usually undetected until major regression occurs at around one year of age, when children will lose acquired skills &#8211; this can be accompanied by distress and anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>More\u00a0photos of the event\u00a0van be found\u00a0<a class=\"zwart\"
