Revolving Measurement Unit (RMU)

RMU

House up to 6 sensors

The heart is essential to human life, and so is the RMU as the center of the Sigma. Forget about exchanging your tools or load cell cartridges. The Revolving Measurement Unit (RMU) rotates to the correct sensor in seconds. Up to 6 sensors of any type for testing, giving your operator the fastest change-over time between sensors in the industry.

No warm up time and no risk of sensor damage

The world’s highest resolution of 24 bits

Unique modular sensors contribute to the most reliable and repeatable measurement results. Sigma force sensors come with a temperature sensor to increase digital temperature correction with the highest resolution of 24 bits. The higher the number of bits, the higher the accuracy. We can ensure an exceptional accuracy of ± 0.075%. With this, there is no need to select force measurement ranges as required on alternative systems.

Fastest change-over time between sensors

  • No warm up time
  • No risk of sensor damage
  • Programmable sensor force

The RMU can house 6 sensors with forces ranging from 0.001 kgf to 200 kgf. Each sensor module features its digital electronics, which is configured for the force transducer and works in 2 directions. The modules are fully tested, calibrated, and ready to use. If desired, the sensors are easy to change in a few minutes.

Single test heads fit too

Of course, you can also equip the Sigma with single load cell cartridges; a Shear Measurement Unit (SMU), or a Push and Pull Measurement Unit (PMU).

All test heads come with the same specifications as the RMU in terms of maximum forces and accuracy. There is no need to readjust the microscope when you do switch cartridges. They all share the same test point.

SYSTEM REVOLVING MEASUREMENT UNIT (RMU) SINGLE LOAD CELL CARTRIDGES

Configuration

  • 6 independent sensors (transducers)
  • 6 applications and functions
  • 6 different tools for 6 different applications (wire pull, ball shear, die shear, ribbon peel, etcetera).
  • 1 sensor (transducer)
  • 1 application
  • If you require multiple applications, you will have to change the cartridges very often.
Startup time
No warm up time. All 6 measurement sensors are powered up and ready for immediate use.
After changing to a different module (cartridge), a warm up time requires up to 30 minutes before you attain the specified accuracy.
Operation
  • No more manually exchanging modules (cartridges)
  • No risk of damage the sensors during exchanging.
  • It takes just 5 seconds to change functions and applications, under software control.
  • No connector wear out issue in the RMU.
  • Manually exchanging modules (cartridges)
  • Changeover must be done carefully to avoid damaging the sensors (transducers).
  • The connector is subjected to many operations, which results in reduced life.
  • Frequent exchange of modules increases the risk of damage, for example, if a cartridge is dropped.
Service
If one sensor (transducer) is broken, the other sensors remain available for instant and convenient use.
In case of problems, the cartridge must be repaired or replaced.
Cost
  • One RMU costs less than multiple measurement units (cartridges).
  • Maintenance-free.
  • No damage cost during
    application changeover
  • High costs when sensors (transducers) are damaged during module exchange.
  • Lower life expectancy because of connector wear.
  • Operators require more training; more system procedures needed.
